Swedish-style bodywork

These sessions focus on relaxation and deep tissue treatment when appropriate. Lindsey incorporates components of Myofascial Release (MFR), Muscle Energy Technique (MET), shiatsu and sports massage. Similar to Lindsey’s training philosophy, she prioritizes client wellbeing and works from a functional anatomical standpoint. When assessing and treating the body, she thinks of all the ways the muscles, bones, tendons, fascia, organs, and nerves work together to propel the body through space - day in and day out, moving and grooving. This work is done on a table with oil.

This style of bodywork is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Five Elements) that uses finger pressure, deep compressions of muscles, assisted stretch positions, and gentle traction of limbs to open up and balance the 12 meridians or channels in the body; each channel is linked to a major organ. This work is to be done on a large mat on the floor while clothed (loosely fitted, cozy, preferably cotton).

Shiatsu

Scar tissue is some of the most creative, durable and stubborn matrix within our bodies. The science of its structure is impressive and within all those cells is almost always a story. The stories are a mixed bag of human experiences - the aftermath of a positive change, what’s leftover after a traumatic moment, the marks that live on us indefinitely that fall somewhere in the middle.

ScarWork was created by the brilliant educator, bodyworker and structural integrationist, Sharon Wheeler. The work is light, repetitive but transformational at reincorporating scar tissue back into the body’s fascial network.

“Creating scar tissue is our body’s way of mending trauma. However, these adhesions often leave us compromised with tensions, restriction, and disorganization. As scar tissue matures it begins to pull and drag on other surrounding tissues, and can sometimes create further complications. ScarWork’s gentle, innovative, and effective approach results in lasting functional change…” - Sharon Wheeler

ScarWork can be incorporated into any bodywork session with Lindsey; however, a minimum of 20 minutes must be spent on the tissue(s). If you’re interested in adding this work to your session, please specify when booking.
