About Lindsey
Hi, I’m Lindsey (she/her)!
I founded Reclaiming Fitness in 2019. My entry into personal training began quickly after college, working for Equinox Fitness Clubs, and later went on to start LKY Fit, an independent personal training and nutrition coaching company based in Brooklyn.
In 2016, I moved to Hudson, NY to pursue new work and take a hiatus from the fitness industry. In that time, I became a cheesemonger, slinging around 45 lb. wheels of cheese more than barbells and traded in my lifting shoes for Danskos.
As I was cheesemongering away, I was able to step back from the fitness and wellness industries, analyzing what aspects of exercise and nutrition were no longer serving me. I found myself questioning the elitist and exclusive tendencies of wellness culture, along with the deeply embedded fat-phobia, ableism, and transphobia of the fitness industry.
This period of exploration helped kick me back into the fitness realm, determined to promote exercise inclusivity for folks in ALL bodies. My work now specializes in functional movement, mobility awareness, kettlebell skill work, and traditional strength training. I work with individuals who don’t find traditional systems of exercise affirming or safe. I’m passionate about fitness within the queer community, and the role it plays in gender identity.
In an effort to find new modalities of support for my clients’ bodies, I became a licensed massage therapist in 2023. Adding this to my work has truly shifted how I view bodies, along with how I teach others how to care for their’s. I’m forever mesmerized in how we all individually move and feel embodied…the things that can cause us pain, how we use various modalities of healing, how we feel grounded in our person, how we feel safe and confident…
It’s my mission to create a safe space for bodies to move in, along with helping to facilitate a mindful and balanced relationship with exercise, massage therapy, and other areas of health and wellness.
In addition to moving and grooving, I enjoy cooking up delicious food from the HV bounty, drinking way too much coffee, playing outside with my Sweetheart, clapping my hands when I laugh with my friends, and spending time with my collection of animals (one cat, one dog, a garter snake that doesn’t realize she’s viewed as a pet, and a chipmunk that occasionally lives in the ceiling).
